Neal Rudder

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Neal Rudder, who left us on February 2, 2025. He was 88 years old. Born on July 28,1936, in Bronx, New York, Neal, lovingly known as “Rudd”, was a remarkable individual whose life was defined by extraordinary accomplishments and unwavering dedication. He graduated from high school at the young age of 16, and then enrolled at the University of Alabama on a football scholarship. He later transferred and graduated from Marietta College. For over 65 years, he made his mark as a successful independent oil and gas producer, a career that not only fulfilled him professionally but also allowed him to share his passion and expertise with others. Neal took immense pride in working alongside his daughter, Erin, for 35 years. Their bond was strengthened through their shared professional journey, filled with laughter, challenges, and countless memories. He was also a very proud father to his son, David, who shared in his love of golf and will forever honor his legacy. A proud Navy veteran, Neal served his Country as a Navy bombardier with honor, a commitment that remained a guiding principle throughout his life. An adventurous spirit, Neal was an avid golfer, scuba diver, skier, swimmer and horseman. He embraced life’s adventures wholeheartedly, whether hitting the golf course, exploring the depths of the ocean, carving down snowy slopes, or riding with grace. An advocate for all animals, Neal had a special bond with his beloved dogs, Mugsy and Buddy, who were his loyal companions and sources of joy. His warm smile, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of everyone he met. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and cared for, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those he helped. In his later years, Neal was cared for by Sam, his dedicated aide, whose compassionate support and unwavering presence made a significant difference in his life. The family is deeply grateful for Sam's exceptional care and kindness during this time. A private memorial service will be held for family members. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Best Friends Animal Society, a cause that was dear to his heart. Proceeded in death by his loving wife, Lea Goldin Rudder, his parents, Esther and Irving Rudder, and his sister, Gail Rudder Kent. Neal was a devoted father to David Rudder and Erin Beth Rudder, a cherished husband to Alice Tahler, a doting grandfather to Alex Rudder, and a loving father-in-law to Marie Dedman Rudder. Rest in peace, Rudd. Your legacy of love, service, and adventure will live on in the hearts of all who knew you. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
