Marie D'Angelo

October 11, 1936 - July 10, 2021

Marie A. D’Angelo, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2021. She was 84 years young. A resident of West Palm Beach, FL, Marie was born in New Rochelle, NY on October 11, 1936 to Enrico “Henry” and Philomena “Minnie” (Lembo) Marinelli. Being from “up the West” in New Rochelle, Marie attended Columbus School, Isaac Young Middle School and New Rochelle High School (’55). While working in Manhattan as a secretary at Mutual of NY at 55th and Broadway, she met her loving husband of 61 years, Sal D’Angelo. Theirs was a story of true love. They were the best of friends and never went anywhere without each other. They raised their family in New Rochelle. Along with her husband, Sal, she is survived by her children Caron Graff (Frank) and Stephanie D’Angelo (Joe McAuliffe). Marie was the adored grandmother to Christopher and Ryan Graff. She is also survived by her loving sister Doris Hurwitz (Shelly-deceased). Always a lover of fashion, Marie worked at Lord & Taylor in Eastchester, NY and Boca Raton, FL for 20 years. You knew Marie worked there because of the closets full of clothes in the house that were stuffed with L&T garment bags holding outfits with the tags still on them. She could have opened her own boutique. Marie will be remembered for always singing and dancing with her soul mate, Sal. She always had music playing in her home and taught her daughters how to dance (waltz, fox trot, lindy, Charleston) starting at the age of 3. Marie fought bravely and tirelessly against breast cancer for the past 26 years, the last 15 being metastatic stage 4. Even among the most devastating of circumstances, Marie maintained her always positive attitude and dry sense of humor that was awe-inspiring. Independent and resilient, she was an inspiration to all that knew her. She truly beat all the odds that were against her and fought like a warrior. Services will be on 07/22, Thursday and located at Sinai Memorial Chapels in Delray Beach, FL. There will be a Viewing starting at 10:00AM, then Chapel Service at 12:30PM. Following the services, Marie will be laid to rest at The south FL National VA Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trustbridge, Hospice in West Palm Beach.
