Harvey Eisen

Harvey Eisen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always prioritized his love for his family and his commitment to the environment. Harvey grew up in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Jennie and David Eisen. He was a World War II veteran, and while serving in Italy, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from City College of New York. He was married to his beloved wife, Marjorie, for 63 years. Together they raised three daughters, Fran (Peter), Liz (Jay), and Jackie (Frank), and built a family that grew to include seven grandchildren, Jill, Carey, Robert, Jesse, Michael, Eric, and Brooke, and fifteen great-grandchildren with an additional set of twins on the way. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie, his daughter Liz, and his son-in-law Frank. He retired in 1989 from the garment industry in New York City and moved to Boca Raton, Florida. In keeping with his commitment to preserving the environment, in 1993 he started volunteering with Friends of Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge in Boynton Beach. From 1993 until 2020, he was a familiar and valued presence at the Refuge, first educating visitors and leading tours, and later welcoming guests and running the nature store. During his tenure, he served as an active Board Member of The Friends of ARM, Chairman of the Speaker's Bureau, and a member of the Bookstore Committee. He continued volunteering until he was 98 years old. Throughout his years of service, Harvey received numerous awards and honors in recognition of his dedication. A scholarship in his honor, still available today, was started by his grandchildren to celebrate his 90th birthday. He passed on his passion for the natural world to his family by bringing his daughters, grandchildren, and several of his great-grandchildren to the Refuge. He enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge about trees, birds, and the need for conservation of scarce resources, especially water. He also shared that knowledge with visitors to the Refuge and with the broader community through his lectures with the Speaker's Bureau at Loxahatchee. Harvey peacefully passed away on April 22, 2026, at the age of 104. He will be remembered and loved by all who knew him, but most especially by his devoted family. He lived his life with purpose, joy, and endless kindness. He will not be forgotten. May his memory be a blessing.
