Legacy of Harryette Rachlin It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harryette Rachlin, a vibrant and compassionate woman, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on October 3rd at the age of 88. Born and raised in Southeast Washington, D.C., Harryette was a woman full of warmth and energy, known for her bright smile and infectious personality that lit up any room. She began her career working as a secretary for NASA, where she enjoyed the unique privilege of conversing with the original Mercury 7 astronauts, who would often gather around her desk to share stories. Her time at NASA left an indelible mark on her, as she cherished those moments throughout her life. Harryette met the love of her life at a dance, where Irving “Rocky” Rachlin was immediately captivated by her. He often said, " When I saw her, I knew I was going to marry that woman". Together, they enjoyed a beautiful 50-year journey filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. They shared a passion for dancing, traveling, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Together they raised their two children, Kenneth and Jennifer. Eager to expand her horizons, Harryette later pursued her education and earned her paralegal certification. With an entrepreneurial spirit, she moved into real estate, working in the industry for many years before founding her own title company, Real Estate Settlement Services (RESS). Her dedication, hard work, and love for her craft built a thriving business, which she later sold, although she never lost her passion for real estate. In every chapter of her life, Harryette, was known for her compassion, generosity, and love of socializing. Whether it was in the workplace or with friends and family, she had an effortless way of making everyone feel welcome and cared for. Her bubbling personality and magnetic charm were qualities she shared freely with the world. In her final year, Harryette, found great joy in her new community at The Veranda Club. She especially looked forward to Friday Shabbat services and the lively happy hours filled with music and laughter. Among her favorite activities were the visits from therapy dogs, who brought her endless comfort and joy. These simple pleasures reflected the heart of who she was—someone who found happiness in both the small and profound moments. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Irving “Rocky” Rachlin, with whom she shared a life of love and devotion. She leaves behind her loving son, Kenneth Rachlin, daughter in-law, Christa (Kellum) Rachlin, daughter, Jennifer (Rachlin) Holbrook, son in- law, Michael Holbrook, grandchildren, Claire and Kian Rachlin and cherished grand-dogs, Stella Belle (Holbrook) and Cali (Rachlin) all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts. Harryette will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her generosity, and her zest for life. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Chabad or a charity of your choice in her honor. A celebration of her life will be held at Sinai Memorial Chapels, Delray Beach and by zoom link, on Wednesday, October 16th at 11:30 a.m. EST. Graveside will be private.
