Anna Dumycz Kanowsky

Anna Dumycz Kanowsky – beloved wife, mother, grandmother / “Nane”, aunt, and cousin – passed away surrounded by her family in Florida on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. She was 77 years young. Anna was born in Lienz, Austria on August 2, 1944 and came to the United States with her family when she was only eight years old. She graduated Battin High School in Elizabeth, NJ – and while working at Penn Products in Elizabeth, NJ met her husband, Irwin Jay Kanowsky. Anna & Irwin married in December 1966. They lived in Elizabeth, NJ; Stony Brook, NY; and Boca Raton, FL. After Irwin’s passing in 2014, Anna moved to Holmdel, NJ; Margate, FL; and finally to Coconut Creek, FL. Anna is survived by her two daughters and son-in-laws – Tina & Jay Yannello; Kim Kanowsky & Joe Kotch – and her son & daughter-in-law, Jeff & Cece Kanowsky. She is also survived by seven grandchildren – Natasha, Jordan, Skylar, Kate, Lucy, Joseph & Sophie – Sister Mary Schaber; and brother & sister-in-law – Mike & Cindy Dumycz. Anna is predeceased by her husband Irwin; her parents Wasyl & Maria Dumycz; and her sister Helen Hopper. Anna worked as an Office Manager over the years at Four Star Realty; Weingarten & Siegel Group; and Campbell Property Management. She was a great friend to many – simply a beautiful, friendly person inside & out; fun to have around – always willing to help out; go places; meet new people; and just have a good time. Anna enjoyed yoga and taking long walks, even in recent years with her walker. She always enjoyed travelling – especially early-on with her husband to places like Arizona, Italy and France. Her favorite regular trip was to New Jersey to visit her daughter and family, as well as her brother and sister. She especially loved going in the fall, as she loved to see the leaves changing colors and was always on the lookout for a chipmunk or a family of deer. Anna fought bravely and tirelessly against metastatic breast cancer for the past 15 years – through many serious setbacks that would have taken most people down. Still, she never stopped fighting to live life to its fullest and love every day – she was an incredible inspiration to everyone she knew or met. Even right up to the end Anna wanted to maintain her independence. She fought like a warrior throughout it all and will be dearly missed. A service in honor of Anna will take place at 12 noon on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 where she will be placed in her final resting place with her husband, Irwin. It will be at the Gardens of Boca Raton Cemetery, 4103 N. Military Trail, Boca Raton, FL 33431. As most of the family’s relatives & friends are far away, there will also be a Livestream of the event. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Butterfly World. Any contributions will help fund admission tickets for underprivileged children.
